The newest release is Arnold 6.2 bringing even more speed and flexibility to rendering.

5 features of Arnold render farms

  1. In general, Arnold works on almost on any 64-bit system where Houdini, Maya, Cinema 4D, 3ds Max, or Katana works. However, there are some minimum requirements.
  2. From Arnold 6.0, you can switch between GPU and CPU rendering, but GPU rendering is supported on Windows and Linux only.
  3. For GPU rendering, it’s recommended to use a NVIDIA RTX series graphics cards with CUDA cores.
  4. A typical rule of a thumb is to provide at least 2GB RAM for each physical core; for most projects 32GB or 64GB is enough.
  5. Installing an M.2 NVME SSD (Non-Volatile Memory Express) is highly recommended.

System requirements for Arnold

  1. Windows 10 or later, with the Visual Studio 2019 redistributable.
  2. Linux with at least glibc 2.17 and libstdc++ 4.8.5 (gcc 4.8.5); This is equivalent to RHEL/CentOS 7.
  3. macOS 10.13 or later.
  4. CPUs need to support the SSE4.1 instruction set.
  5. Arnold natively supports running under Apple M series CPUs, such as the M1 CPUs.
  6. GPU rendering works on Windows and Linux only and requires an NVIDIA GPU of the Ada, Ampere, Turing, Volta, Pascal, or Maxwell architecture.
  7. Optix™ denoiser requires an NVidia GPU with CUDA™ Compute Capability 5.0 and above.
